Workshop on Government translation (3 hours) ($120 per person)
This workshop covers the translation and common translation errors on the terms between China (incl Taiwan, Hong Kong etc) and Australia on the government systems at various levels, parliamentary systems, chief government leaders and ministers, political parties, election system and diplomatic services etc. It will be extremely useful in translating/interpreting assignments for governments between both countries.
(Teaching hours: 3-6pm Saturday)
2. Legal Interpreting (36 hours) ($1,440 per person, a class of 5 students)
(Teaching including vocabulary explanation, sight translation, dialogue interpreting, consecutive interpreting and chuchotage etc)
Contents cover the following:
Introduction to interpreting in Australian courts and tribunals and its legal system; tribunals incl AAT [administrative appeals tribunal] and CAT [civil and administrative system] etc; correctional services incl federal and state police system; criminal law, civil law, family law, immigration law, compensation law etc.
This course is aimed to help individuals who are preparing to sit for the test to get a certificate as a NAATI certified interpreter or at a higher level, a certified specialist legal interpreter.
(Teaching hours: 3 hours each session)

(Teaching including sight translation, dialogue interpreting, consecutive interpreting)
Contents cover the following:

4. Medical Interpreting (36 hours - $1,440 per person, a class of 5 students)

(Contents cover the following:
Introduction to interpreting in Australia and Australian medical system, incl: paediatrics, gynaecology, cardiology, respiratory system, digestive system, psychology, psychiatry, surgery, ENT, family planning, immunisation and contagious diseases, pandemic and epidemic diseases such as SARS, bird flu, Covid-19 etc)
This course is aimed to help individuals who are preparing to sit for the test to get a certificate as a NAATI certified interpreter or at a higher level, a certified specialist health interpreter.
(Teaching hours: 3 hours each session)
5. Interpreting (21 hours) ($840 per person, a class of 5 students)

6. NAATI CI Crash Course (18 hours - $720 per person, a class of 5 students)
(Teaching including sight translation, dialogue interpreting, consecutive interpreting etc)
Contents cover the following:
Legal, Business, Medical, Education, Insurance, Customs, Immigration etc.
This course is aimed to help individuals who are preparing to sit for the test to get a certificate as a NAATI certified interpreter or at a higher level, a certified specialist interpreter.
(Teaching hours: 3 hours each session)
Retired lecturer in translating and interpreting;
Experienced government, legal and medical translator/interpreter;
Teaching experiences include teaching translating/interpreting at WSU, MQ, UNSW and TAFE colleges for thirty years;
A highly experienced translator/interpreter for Australian Federal and various state governments and agencies for 30 years, including governments, courts, hospitals and many other areas;
Interpreting experiences incl: Chief conference interpreter at 2000 Sydney Olympic Games; interpreter for two ex-prime ministers of Australia and a great number of federal and state ministers.
